Signs, Signs, Everywhere there’s Signs
  1. Intro
  2. The Regathering of Israel
  1. The Bible says over and over that the Jews will return to their homeland for the events of the ‘end times’ to unfold.
  2. Jeremiah 30: 1-3 “The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the Lord, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it.”
  3. Zech 10:6 ““I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and I will save the house of Joseph.
I will bring them back because I have compassion on them,
and they shall be as though I had not rejected them,
for I am the Lord their God and I will answer them.
  4. Vs 8 -9 ““I will whistle for them and gather them in,
        for I have redeemed them,
and they shall be as many as they were before.
Though I scattered them among the nations,
yet in far countries they shall remember me,
and with their children they shall live and return.”
  5. This is often called the ‘supersign’ of the end times. It is the most prophesied event in the end times prophecies contained in the Bible.
  6. The nation of Israel must exist.
  7. Adrian Rogers “These are dangerous days in which we live! The storm clouds are gathering. The lightening is flashing- and the lightening rod is Israel.”
  8. According to Daniel Chapter 9 the tribulation begins with a peace treaty with the Antichrist.
  9. Israel must exist in order for that to happen.
  10. Look at how Randall Price describes this :

‘The modern return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel has been called the ‘Miracle on the Mediterranean.” Such a return by a people group that had been scattered among the nations is unprecedented in history. The Jewish people are the only exiled people to remain a distinct people despite being dispersed to more than 70 different countries for more than 20 centuries. The mighty empires of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome all ravaged their land, took their people captive, and scattered them throughout the earth. Even after this, they suffered persecution, pogrom, and Holocaust in the lands to which they were settled. Yet, all of these ancient kingdoms have turned to dust and their former glories remain only as museum relics and many of the nations that have opposed the Jews have suffered economic, political, or religious decline. But the Jewish people whom they have enslaved and tried to eradicate live free and have again become a strong nation.”

This return to the Holy land began in 1871 when a few Jews trickled back.

  1. A man named Theodore Herzl, at the first Zionist Conference in 1897, led an effort to adopt the goal of reclaiming the land.
  2. During WW1, Living in London was a man named Chaim Weizmann. He ran into a British official named Arthur Balfour.
  3. Well to make a long story short, the Allies, but specifically the British needed help with their bombs and explosives.
  4. Just so happened that Weizmann had a phD in biochemisty and had perfected the ability to make explosive propellants. Asked what he wanted to help the war effort and according to Weizmann, this is the conversation that followed:
  5. "Mr. Balfour, supposing I was to offer you Paris instead of London, would you take it?" He sat up, looked at me, and answered: "But Dr. Weizmann, we have London." "That is true," I said, "but we had Jerusalem when London was a marsh." He ... said two things which I remember vividly. The first was: "Are there many Jews who think like you?" I answered: "I believe I speak the mind of millions of Jews whom you will never see and who cannot speak for themselves." ... To this he said: "If that is so you will one day be a force."
  6. This led to the Balfour Declaration which stated that “His Majesty’s Government views with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.”
  7. This stirred hopes for a Jewish homeland but it wasn’t until May 14, 1948 that the new nation was given 5000 miles and had a population of 650,000 Jews and several hundred thousand Arabs.
  8. After the 6 day war in 1967 the Jews controlled Old Jerusalem for the first time since 70 AD!
  9. How’s it going? For the first time in more since AD 135 there are more Jews living in Israel than in any other place on earth.
  10. You tell me it’s a coincidence!

        III.  Surging Apostasy

  1. What is apostasy? Apostasy is simply a departure from the truth both doctrinally and morally. It is absolutely rampant in the Church today
  2. 1 Timothy 4:1-3 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.”
  3. In 1964 John Walvoord wrote “The Scriptures predict that there will be a growing apostasy  or departure from the Lord as the church age progresses, and its increase can be understood as a general indication that the Rapture is near.”
  4. In 1971, J. Dwight Pentecost, wrote “Abundant evidence on every hand shows that men are departing from the faith. Not only do they doubt the Word; they openly reject it. This phenomenon has never been as prevalent as today. In the period of church history known as the Dark Ages, men were ignorant of the truth; but never was there an age when men openly denied and repudiated the truth. This open, deliberate, willful repudiation of the truth of the Bible is described in Scripture as one of the major characteristics of the last days of the church on earth.”
  5. This turning away from the truth will culminate in a final falling away as the end times begin to unfold.
  6. 2 Thess 2:2-3 “Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,[a] not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness[b] is revealed, the son of destruction. “
  7. While we pray for revival, the Bible actually says the opposite will happen as we approach the end days. There will be a worldwide departure from the faith.
  8. We will see that the world does not look any different from the church.
  9. For Example: Joel Osteen Publishes book evoking the Name of God as a part of his prosperity gospel (Deseret News)
  10. “When I spoke this message a few years ago, I remember that this concept was very well-received,” Osteen told Parade magazine. “The principle is that whatever follows ‘I am’ will eventually find you. You’re handing it an invitation, opening the door and giving it permission to be in your life.”
  11. A recent example of this process is a 2010 study done by prominent atheist Daniel Dennett and Linda LaScola called “Preachers Who Are Not Believers.” Dennett and LaScola’s work chronicles five different preachers who over time were presented with and accepted heretical teachings about Christianity and now have completely fallen away from the faith and are either pantheists or clandestine atheists. One of the most disturbing truths highlighted in the study is that these preachers maintain their position as pastors of Christian churches with their congregations being unaware of their leader’s true spiritual state.
  12. According to the latest research about 80 million people in the US identify themselves as ‘nones.’ Of that number 64 million were previously affiliated with Christianity.
  13. Of that number 32 million say they left because they simply do not believe.
  14. Let that sink in a minute.
  15. There is an astounding growth of apostasy even in our own country.

IV.  The Coming Middle East Peace

  1. Sign number 3 is the worldwide clamoring for peace in the Middle East.
  2. Think about it, what is the one problem that has festered in the world’s side for decades if not centuries?
  3. What is the one issue that is in the news every single day? The Middle East.
  4. Why is the middle east so important? Certainly, there are political and humanitarian reasons for the world’s interest in this region.
  5. But the Middle East Peace process is a key sign of the times.
  6. I Thess 5:1-3 “Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers,[a] you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”
  7. The Bible says that the event that signals the beginning of the tribulation is the signing of a peace treaty between the West and the nation of Israel. (Daniel 9:27)
  8. All of this clamor about having to have peace in the Middle East is setting the stage for that final peace treaty in the Bible.
  9. Just last year, the Vatican signed a peace treaty with Palestine.
  10. Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Vatican's foreign minister, said at the signing that he hoped it could be a "stimulus to bringing a definitive end to the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which continues to cause suffering for both parties".
  11. How long until other countries join in?
  12. By the way there is also a prophecy about Damascus in Isaiah 17:1-2 “"This message came to me concerning Damascus: 'Look, Damascus will disappear! It will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer will be deserted. Sheep will graze in the streets and lie down unafraid. There will be no one to chase them away.”
  13. Sky News published an article less than six weeks ago that said this.

“But Damascus, the oldest and most continually inhabited city in the world is in grave danger; on land from an increasingly violent collaboration of militia, funded and motivated by a bewildering mix of agendas.

From within by the most complicated and unpredictable regime on the planet.

And from further afield by the most powerful armed force on the planet whose commander-in-chief has decided once and for all to take a stand and wade in with the frightening technological arsenal at his disposal.

         V.  The Rise of Globalism

  1. I want to introduce you to a very little known, but important Biblical character.
  2. Genesis 10:8-14 ‘

Cush fathered Nimrod; he was the first on earth to be a mighty man.[a] He was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, and 12 Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. 13 Egypt fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (from whom[b] the Philistines came), and Caphtorim.

  1. Incidently, this is the entire world at that time.
  2. So who was Nimrod? Well Nimrod’s grandfather was Ham, son of Noah. When it says that he was the first on earth to be a mighty man and a mighty hunter before the Lord. That is not a compliment.
  3. He ruled the entire earth and was a wicked, wicked king. He was brutal, he directly opposed YHWH, he was the king who wanted the tower of Babel to be built.
  4. He also starred in another ancient book that you might have heard of, ‘the Epic of Gilgamesh.” Nimrod is Gilgamesh.
  5. Satan wanted to rule the world through one man. Just as God intended to save the world through one man.
  6. Satan has continually tried this tactic, world history is a biography of men who wanted to control the world.
  7. Now, for the first time in world history since the Tower of Babel the technology is there that would allow for the establishment of just such a government.
  8. We can beam a television channel simoultaneously to the entire world today. Cable news covers every corner of the planet. Access to the internet and cell phones reaches around the globe.
  9. Missiles can hit almost any target in the world in less than 30 minutes. No would-be world ruler in history has had access to nuclear weapons that could be used to blackmail the world into submission like many are capable of today.
  10. The Bible says this world ruler will be the Antichrist. Who he or she is? We don’t know. We may or may not know before we leave this earth, but there’s a good possible he or she is alive today.
  11. And the way is already paved for just such a move.
  12. It has been said that arguing against globalization is like arguing against the laws of gravity. Kofi Annan
  13. “No two countries that both had McDonald's had fought a war against each other since each got its McDonald's”  ― Thomas L. Friedman
  14. One article described the benefits of globalization this way “This leveling in culture into a 'one size fits all' global frame of mind greatly aids the efficiency of business and trade, while also allowing communications between countries to be much easier. The cultural differences will be less extreme, thereby making communication more efficient as the need to be accommodating decreases.”
  15. In other words, we’ll all be just alike culturally. One day soon

VI.  The Rising One World Economy and Religion

  1. Revelation 13:16-17 describe this world leader and his power to control like this “Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,e to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.”
  2. It says that no one will be able to buy and sell without his permission. Now how can that happen? I’m carrying cash!
  3. Well, how long do you think cash will be used?
  4. Today with electronic funds transfers, banking, debit and credit cards it is almost already possible to control the buying and selling of goods. Save for cash.
  5. Governments already control large transfers of money. Billions of dollars move with the click of a button every single day.
  6. According to an article by CNN Money Denmark, Norway and Sweden are already moving towards a cashless economy.
  7. A cashless society is "no longer an illusion but a vision that can be fulfilled within a reasonable time frame," said Michael Busk-Jepsen, executive director of the Danish Bankers Association.
  8. In Sweden a person can buy a newspaper from a homeless man without cash.
  9. The article goes further to say “Even the United Nations, alongside the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, wants societies to forego cash for more virtual transacting. It wants to cut costs and improve transparency, and is working with governments and the private sector to encourage more use of electronic payments.”
  10. Banking magazine predicted earlier this year that cash will be completely gone within 20 yrs. I doubt it’ll take that long.
  11. So how do you control the buying and selling of goods? With one click of the computer.
  12. What about the rising world religion?
  13. This is the movement that is already afoot in the US and Europe, all roads lead to God.
  14. How about a leader emerging who can unite Islam and Christianity? How popular would that be?
  15. According to Pew Research Council ‘Between 2010 and 2050, the world’s total population is expected to rise to 9.3 billion, a 35% increase.1 Over that same period, Muslims – a comparatively youthful population with high fertility rates – are projected to increase by 73%. The number of Christians also is projected to rise, but more slowly, at about the same rate (35%) as the global population overall.
  16. As a result, according to the Pew Research projections, by 2050 there will be near parity between Muslims (2.8 billion, or 30% of the population) and Christians (2.9 billion, or 31%), possibly for the first time in history.
  17. Pope Francis has said the following recently in NYC at St Patrick’s Cathedral
  18. The Pope is the spokesperson for Christianity to the world, like it or not.

“I then greet and cordially thank you all, dear friends belonging to other religious traditions; first of all the Muslims, who worship the one God, living and merciful, and call upon Him in prayer, and all of you. I really appreciate your presence: in it I see a tangible sign of the will to grow in mutual esteem and cooperation for the common good of humanity.”

S. On January 6, 2016 Pope Francis said ““Many think differently, feel differently, seeking God or meeting God in different ways. In this crowd, in this range of religions, there is only one certainty that we have for all: we are all children of God,” Pope Francis said in his message, released Jan. 6, the feast of the Epiphany.”

S. Since 2014 the reading of Islamic prayers and the Quran has been allowed at the Vatican itself.

t. Again, these are the actors taking their place, the curtain has yet to come up.
